Music is a transitional entity, ever changing in the face of new thought and improvisation. To succeed in its’ performance, musicians must master its’ language and then incorporate their own personal flavor to create a unique and individual sound. It is in this spirit that Bueno has succeeded in building a sound that is personal; providing a sense of driving excitement and musical mastery to their performance. Based in Ashland, VA the band delivers searing rock music, fused with rhythmic jazz and gliding blues riffs. Best heard live, Bueno illuminates the stage with a powerful energy fueled by creative and explorative improvisation, placed sharply over a pure blues-rock base. Drawing from a seemingly bottomless well of spontaneous musical instinct, Bueno develops each song individually, with direction provided not from distinct and predetermined parameters but instead flowing freely, steered by the rippling energy of audience involvement. It is in this open atmosphere of artistic elaboration that the members of Bueno thrive, constantly providing their audience with fresh and inventive sounds in constant flux. Each show is different, each experience unique and exciting. Weasel Las Vegas!

Jonathan’s percussionary dynamic brings a plate full of chops to the table. He first developed an interest in the drums during his sophomore year in high school and has been dedicated to ever since. A strong connection with classic rock has spawned a high-octane blend of Rock-and-Roll vibrancy with the rhythmic sense of the reggae musicians that he so admires. Jonathan’s playing provides a constant source of energy and impact, communicating physically with the listener at the most primal and instinctive level. This energy channels through his rhythms in every way, manifesting itself especially in his lightening-speed fills, bringing the crowd to incendiary climaxes , then crashing down to begin anew. The resulting sound could aptly be compared to drummers like Neil Pert of Rush and Mitch Mitchell of the Jimmy Hendrix Experience. For sure, Jonathan provides a power house for the music of Bueno.

Whether recalling the playful Phish-isms of Trey Anastasio or the muscular blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Scott Lane's guitar playing is always always clear and never flashy. On original material, he can blend fusion-style runs with biting staccato tones and still make it sound like his own idea. Covers sound true to their roots, but you can often hear Scott coming through in the counter-tempo turnaound tossed in for expressive effect. Playing since 1994, Scott has developed an instrumental voice based on classic rock and jazz techniques that show up in surprising combinations. Yet, the melody lines he lays down never offend the ear. This is not restrained and cautious guitar playing, but rather a careful blend confidently and excitingly delivered with the pleasure of Bueno listeners in mind.
